Chapter One

An explosion rocked the ground. He jerked his gaze to the house. Flames consumed the structure. Screams and shouts filled the night. Men moved in all directions toward the house, but gunfire blasted through the shouts. Brock’s muscles tightened.

“Can we do anything?” Donovan yelled over the sirens and shouts. She ran a hand over her mussed up ponytail. Her fingers shook. He saw the desperate need to help in her eyes. It went against her nature not to.

Brock shook his head. “We wait.”

The thought of doing nothing didn’t appeal to him either. In fact, it was hell to hold back and not run into the house and get the kid himself. His power shoved outward. Pushing to get out. To take control.

“Finally!” Galvez sighed.

Brock’s vision followed Galvez’s line of sight until he saw a woman running out through the flames with a bundle covered in a dripping blanket.

Breaths thundered in his ears. Everything narrowed until the only thing he saw was her. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Was his mind playing a trick on him? After all these years? But no, it wasn’t a trick. She was soaking wet as she ran from the burning house toward them. Paramedics surrounded her and took the covered bundle from her arms. She was gasping for air, coughing through the smoke she’d inhaled before she finally glanced up and met his gaze.

He didn’t know how long he’d been standing there, watching everything like a spectator versus an active participant. The beast inside him roared. After all the years they’d been apart, after she’d left him for no apparent reason, she was back. He watched her march toward him. Her dark gaze slid from him to Galvez.

In the background, firemen fought the burning house. Sirens continued to blare. Loud. Driving the point that chaos had ensued around them. But he couldn’t find it in him to care. His sole focus was on the woman he’d loved. Hard. The woman who’d left him.

Author Bio

Hi! I'm Milly (AKA April Angel) I love to write sexy stories. They're usually either paranormal or contemporary with a large dose of heat. My paranormal stories can be anything from wolf-shifters (my favorites) to witches, demons and anything in between. I was born the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, I live in New York City with my hubby, the bossy kiddo and our little dog "Needy Speedy". Don't ask. When I'm not working some really long hours at the day job, or hanging out in the awful life-sucking invention known as Facebook, messaging my bestie in the UK or shopping with my sis Julie, then I can be found watching scary movies. Buuut when I'm not doing that, I'm usually writing because the voices won't shut up. I am addicted to shoe shopping, chocolate (but who isn't, right?) and Dunkin' Donuts coffee. Come by and visit me! I love to meet new readers!

You're stranded on an island with one antagonist from any one of your books. Who would you choose and why?
Oy that's hard! Not sure I could pick one. I think I might kill them in the first five minutes. I really thought about it and there isn't one with redeeming qualities lol.

Do you remember the first time you realized you wanted to write?
I loved reading since a kid and one of the things I liked doing was creating a story in my mind. It was so fun. When I did a book for my 3rd grade class it opened the door that told me I could write those silly stories and always be able to go back and read them.

Is there any one thing you seriously can't live without? Air, general food, sleep, and water don't count.
Dunkin Donuts coffee. Oh I can go a day but soon I start craving and wanting and I will get up in the middle of a snowy day, go walking up the street to get my fix.

What is one topic you love to research, either for your own entertainment or for your writing?
Murder. Lol. I know. Weird huh? But I am such a big fan of investigation Discovery. Discover ID and all those channels that show cool murder shows. Lmao. I can watch them all day. And often have.

If you were a superhero, what would be your powers and why?
I would be a shapeshifter. I just think that's the coolest thing ever.

If you could pick any one book character to be a real life person, who would you choose and why? Does not have to be a character from your own writing.
Probably Razor from the recent novella I wrote with Mina Carter called Pack Princess. He's a naughty biker werewolf. And hot as hell!

If you got to choose how you died, what would be your way out?
While sleeping. That's one area I wouldn't want a dramatic end.

What's your favorite genre to read? Is it also what you prefer to write?
I love to read paranormal romance and suspense. I am a huge romance fan which is why I write it. But I have found I really love paranormal or if contemporary super sexy erotic romance.

Thanks for having me here!
