Divisive & The Fifth Game #Review

The Connors are your All-American dysfunctional family. Carolyn, the matriarch, is a hard-drinking single mother with no desires to be a 'sitcom mommy." Elizabeth, her seventeen-year-old daughter, is a Goth dressing, snarky teenager who lives to protect her baby sister and to find love. Precocious Emily, twelve, is the peacemaker of the family saddled with issues of her own. Enter Dennis Rask, a charming rogue who insinuates himself into their family and brings them together as a self-appointed messiah - becoming loved by Carolyn, idolized by Emily, and accepted with reservations by a suspicious Elizabeth. Little do the Connors know, Rask has united three families before them, with every unit destroying themselves from within by his hellish machinations. Rask views the Connors as a hobby - a game - which has left no survivors in the past.

Divisive starts the reader off at the end of their story. Detective Frank Bostick attempts to unravel the reasons behind a tragic event in the Connors house, resulting in a 'supposed' death, a 'questionable' overdose, and a brutally 'perceived' attack of Rask by one of the members. Switching back between the past, and the present, Divisive ensnares the reader in a thriller that goes back several years in the life of Dennis Rask until ending in a grim battle for the soul of the one he has hand-picked to be his 'Queen."

Dennis Rask has found the newest family to garner his wrath and he's seduced Elizabeth Connors into joining him. While he manipulates Clarissa Gravelle in an attempt to send her to Hell, Elizabeth has been charged with sending her twin son's to the same fate. Will she succumb to the dark forces driving her lover, or will she redeem herself in time to save her soul?

Originally, I was only going to review Divisive, but after reading it, I immediately bought The Fifth Game. I will review them together as they are book 1 & 2 in a series. So here it is...

Dennis Rask is a self-admitted twisted man. Twisted doesn't even begin to describe what direction this story takes. There is so much action and insanity that I was overwhelmed - in a good way. The books were so well written that even with a huge cast of characters, I never felt lost. Every detail was so well explained and I loved every sordid moment.

This is not a tale for the faint of heart. It contains some major intense elements. It is like an X-rated episode of Criminal Minds on steroids. Once you start, you will not be stopping until the end.

I give Divisive and The Fifth Game by John (JD) Tucker 5 stars! WOW!

Fairy Casanova #Review @GracenMiller

Sadie has hit rock bottom. A high-powered attorney on the fast-track to creating a name, she bet everything on one case and lost big. Bankrupt, with her professional reputation ruined, and her fiancé yachting about Aruba with a hot babe, she's desperate for a break from reality. She arranges a one-nighter with a complete stranger through Madame Evangeline's high-end dating service, 1NightStand. A fairy isn't what she expected to hook-up with, but how can she be disappointed when royalty turns into the only king of sex she'll ever want?

In less than a week, Jace is about to become king of the fairies, but he's enamored with humans. Before his coronation, he wants to fulfill his sexual fantasies in the human realm. With a limited timeline, he schedules a liaison with a stranger through 1NightStand.com. Sadie intrigues him with her competing reserved and salacious vibes. After a night of stellar sex, Jace offers Sadie a permanent place in his life as his queen. Will she forfeit her life in the human realm to accept his offer?

Let me start by saying that I love the 1 Night Stand series. I think every book I have red from that series has been great.

Ok so here we have Sadie, who's life has basically went to crap overnight. She took a gamble with her job and like in Vegas, you win some, you lose some. Let's just say she lost, big time. Not only that her POS fiance ran off with another woman. So she finds out about a famous 1 night stand service and goes for it. And in walks Jace, the poor guy seems to have his own dilemmas. The guy is about to become the King of the Fae in Fairyville(yes I had to giggle at the name) and he would like his last night as a free man to be spent with a human woman. They are both pleasantly surprised and quite pleased with the match up. After some questions, confession and a little I'll show you mine, where the he shows her his wings, they are off to the races. Well bed races that is. With some very interesting sex and yes he uses his wings on her, they both come to realize they want more than one night. But with his situation, that can never happen. Until a loving shoulder kiss where he unintentionally marks her as his mate. Then he leaves her to choose to meet him in his kingdom or go on with her life in Vegas. Which should she choose?

This was a hott sexy interesting read and I dare say this author has yet to disappoint me. With a great story line, some hot yet odd sex and fun characters I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Buffalo Rocker: Travis @mrsnkuhn

By N Kuhn
Publisher Nevermore Press
Cover Design: Nevermore PR

Lots of people want to be Rock Stars, but the question is, can they handle it? Travis Dane has never wanted anything more than to be a Rock Star. He dreamed of being just like his father, Marcus. What the idol in his life never told him, is that the road to fame is paved with self destruction. Music, drugs, drinking, fighting and crazy stalkers all battle for his attention. Throw in an uncaring mother and Paparazzi following his every step is disaster waiting to happen.
Brittany Landers has never loved anyone like she did Trav. But his temper and drug use drove her into the arms of another man. Finally getting her life on track, striving for her law degree, can Aiden Bland take her mind off of Travis and what he’s going through? Or is he just Mr Wrong Right Now? The emotional rollercoaster of fame is never a Happily Ever After.

Tossing her one of my shirts, so she can clean up, I pull on a pair of boxers. A red thong happens to fall out of the shirt in her hand. Holding it up with one finger, she stares at me.
“Who’s is this? My ass isn’t this big.” Running a hand through my hair, it’s pointless, as it just falls right back into my eyes. Turning to look at the naked woman in my bed, she is beautiful, even when she’s angry. Maybe this is what I need, Britt’s a handful right now. She will only drag me down and I have to focus on music. Now that we have the Battle of the Bands to get ready for, and we have gigs almost every night, Death Polish is on its way. We will be the next Poisonous Love. I’m going to be just like my dad.
“I said whose is this? Are you screwing around on me Trav? What the hell? Some groupie skank I would assume,” Brittany pouts, snuggling back up under the sheets.
“Britt, you need to go. Bas and I have to go practice. I don’t have time for this shit. Get dressed and run back to mommy. Go get your nails done or something.”
“You know what Trav? You’re a loser. Fuck this. I’m done. You treat me like crap, and I don’t know why I put up with it. I can get a better lay anywhere else, from guys with more money than you. You will never amount to anything. You’re just a wannabe loser with big dreams that won’t come true. Sticking your dick in anything that comes along. Why can’t you get a real job? A real place, instead of this shit hole? Time to grow up and be a man. We aren’t in high school anymore.”

I’ve read quite a few rocker romance books but none that I feel were as realistic as this book. The drug abuse issues addressed in this book made me love it all the more. I was sucked in. Britt is just hard headed, stubborn and totally loves Travis but one heated argument tears it all apart. She now knows that she can’t be with him. Knows that he can’t give her what she needs. She decides to move on with her life, she meets another man and she decides to do the things that she’s always wanted to do. Aiden promises to be everything that Travis is not. But that’s not necessarily a good thing. Travis, sweet Travis, he’s grown up far too fast. His father was in and out of his life and he had a mother who never really showed him love. Travis’s biggest dream is to be just like his father with a destructively overwhelming desire to fill shoes that he was much too good to fill. His desire to be someone he looked up to, to be someone he’s not. Pushing Britt out of his life, he thought was for the best. He thought he could live his life without her. He thought he could handle the drugs, the alcohol, the fame. His destructiveness leads him down a path that he might not walk away from and all he can think about is getting the woman that he loves back. Walking this road with Travis and Britt was great. Being able to watch Travis go thru the healing process to get his life back on track. These may be words written on paper, but this is real life and I felt like I was right there with them. This book was over far too quick for me.

Finding Forever Cover Reveal @melisamhamling #Review

Finding Forever by Melisa M. Hamling
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

Through the splinters of glass, I see his face, the one who has this hold on me, on my soul, and I know he holds the key to something I have yet to learn.

Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it. Morgan Master’s is about to find out that what you wish for doesn’t come in a perfect little package.

Plummeting off the side of the mountain wasn’t the escape Morgan had planned. Or was it? Disconnected from who she was, where she came from, Morgan knows she’s in a hot mess when the lines blur between two worlds. What is real and what is imagined? Her inner struggle to find herself and to learn the truth, leads her into the arms of Ben, the perfect little package she once wished for, but doesn’t remember it.

Ben is Morgan’s solace, her guide through her state of confusion, offering comfort and love to degrees she is certain she has never known before. Longing to stay in the heavenly bliss, something keeps pulling her back, a little at a time.

When Morgan’s world crumbles, she endures weeks of heartbreak. She must decide between this life, or go in search of the unknown, in search of reestablishing the love she had for the man who helped her survive. What must she sacrifice to find him? Does he really exist? What will she uncover when she goes in search of Finding Forever?

This is a story about Morgan Masters and her wish to be in a better life than what she has now. She finds herself in a terrible car accident that, instead of death, she turns up in a whole new world were she struggles to remember who she is while trying to figure out how and why she is where she is. This story was so beautifully written and descriptive I could see everything Ms.Hamling was bringing out in the story. Like Morgan, I was unsure of how to take things at first but as the story went on, the more and more into the story and the more my curiosity was piqued. This was a wondrous read, different from what I normally read but it was a wonderful distraction and escape from the norm and is a read to be experienced!

I grew up in Colorado and moved to Nebraska in the latter half of my teen years, where I've remained. I have a great family and my father is James Dean. Yep! The James Dean. Okay in name only, but I still love to say it. I have the best husband ever! He's not afraid to do the laundry, or the dishes, and dang. He's had to survive four females and a whole lot of hormones. Poor guy! We have three beautiful daughters, and our only sons, Robby and Bentley, are of course, cats. They refuse to acknowledge their furry background, and so continue to live as humanly as possible.

Most of my work experience has been in healthcare giving me the opportunity to work with a variety of people, ranging from newborn to elderly. My true passion is writing. I'm captivated by stories that delve into facets of the human behavior: affliction, fidelity, passion, betrayal, and redemption. I prefer to take my characters through a physical journey where they learn something about themselves or take them to new and exciting places, but there is always romance involved.

What would you give up for everything?

Tristan Stone was powerful, commanding, sex incarnate. And he wore it all so well. From the moment his mesmerizing gaze met mine, I had no choice but surrender to everything he was. His power. His decadence. His passion. He was all I never knew I needed.

He wanted to possess me, and I wanted to be his everything. All I had to do was accept what he offered. But everything has a price.

The world he gave me fulfilled my wildest dreams, but would that be enough when the past crashed into the present?

He slid the tie from my neck and undid all his work. "Now you show me what you learned." I attempted to take the tie from his hand, but he pulled it away and whispered, "On me. Turn around and sit toward me." Nervous fear shot through me as I stood up, and I hoped I'd be able to turn around without my legs giving out. The dress I wore only fell to the middle of my thighs, so when I straddled him, it was likely to ride up so far my panties would show. I didn't care about that so much as him knowing that I was already dripping wet just from sitting there pressed up against him. Taking a deep breath, I turned around and climbed on top of his lap. He stared into my eyes, unnerving me, but something held me firm in his gaze. His hard cock pressed against the front of his pants and my damp panties. There was no way he didn't know how excited he'd made me. I took the tie from his hand and slid it around his strong neck, even as my fingers trembled at the feel of him underneath them. Trying to hide my ignorance of my task, I wrapped the wide end of the tie around the narrow end, but it was no use. I didn't know what came next. Dropping the two ends of silk, I looked down to avoid his gaze. "I'm sorry. I don't know how to do this." "You didn't listen when I told you how to?" he asked in a voice that was as seductive as it was stern. Shaking my head, I continued to look down at the untied ends of the blue fabric laying against his shirt. "I couldn't. You were so close, and it was impossible to pay attention to what you were saying." He slid his hands down my back and cupped my ass to pull me into him, grinding my soaked panties into the thin fabric separating his cock from me. Kneading my flesh through my dress, he whispered near my mouth, "I love how honest you are, Nina. It makes me want to be honest with you." I wasn't sure how to answer, but it didn't matter. As my head swum from the sensations he'd created in me, he pressed his mouth to mine and kissed me. His lips were soft yet demanding, and I eagerly kissed him back, seeking a release of that sweet ache, but his kiss only increased the feeling, making me want more. He nudged his hips off the couch, sliding his cock over my sensitive clit, and I couldn't stop myself from moaning into his mouth. I didn't want him to think he had this effect on me so soon, but I was powerless. I wanted him so badly at that moment, I would have done anything to keep his hands on my body.

I cannot say enough about just how much I loved this book!  It didn't take me long to get sucked in - and stay there.  The story was full of twists and turns, the characters were perfectly written and very easy to connect with, and the spicy parts were so...wow!  I cannot wait to read the second book to see where their story goes.

I give Crash Into Me by K.M. Scott 5 stars.  It is definitely a must read!

Over an hour into my work out on the elliptical, sweat covered my brow and a few curls had broken free from my elastic band, making them stick to the sides of my face and forehead. When I grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat away, my legs felt wobbly and weak. I bought a bottle of water from a vending machine and headed out.

In the parking lot, I saw the sky had darkened considerably, elongating the shadows. As I walked back to my car I realized the birds in the nearby trees slowly became silent.

Stopping, I scanned the street. Not a single person was out. Even the cool breeze when I left the gym had stilled, almost as though everything had frozen in time.

Without warning, my stomach rolled. Almost instantly I felt nauseous as the familiar dread of darkness surfaced inside of me. The force became so overwhelming I doubled over, gasping for air.

As I focused on breathing, deep guttural laughter echoed in the stillness nearby. My head snapped up, my eyes searching for the man in my dreams. My brain worked in overtime, wondering how my dreams had finally crossed the barrier into reality.

The laughter came again, only closer this time. He wanted me, wanted me to surrender the light of life to dwell in the darkness of death. My panic increased as my heart thundered in my chest. I couldn't think clearly.

A few feet away, a man appeared, though he looked more or less the same age as me. Tall, well built with chestnut hair stopping at the hard angle of his jaw, and his eyes as black as a raven's feather. He didn't look like the same person from my nightmares. Not that it mattered–his presence still terrified me.

His lips twisted into a sinister grin, a mixture of evil and pain so clear I could taste it on my tongue. I tried to ease my panic and think clearly, but just like in my nightmares, I was losing.

"Who are you and what do you want?" Much to my surprise, my voice stayed even.

"You don't know, do you?" He tilted his head to the side, watching me with amusement in his dark eyes. He slowly held a finger in the air and then began making circular movements. The motion created his own personal whirlwind, lifting the hair around his face.

He continued to walk toward me, controlling the wind with his finger. My panic increased; my insides felt like they were being stretched thin, ready to snap in half at any given second.

"What do you want?" This time my voice quivered at the end.

"You have got to be kidding me, right?" He shook his head. "This is easier than I thought it'd be." He must have read the perplexed look on my face because he started laughing–hard. I would've been offended had I not been so freaking scared.

His thoughts and emotions become stronger with each step he took, overpowering my ability to shut off the inner darkness wanting to be set free. I wasn’t sure which way was up or down, left or right, and it didn't matter.

Made For You #Review @vikeeland

******The sequel to Belong to You (Book #2 of a two part series) *******

Jack and Syd spent a week in paradise. It was only supposed to be a fling. But life can be funny sometimes, and circumstances brought them back together again. Together they seemed to have found their happy ever after. But when Sydney is offered a chance at the career she has always wanted, she must leave Jack behind to follow her dreams. Can their love survive long distance? Sydney’s touring with a man every woman wants, but he only has eyes for Syd. And an unexpected tragedy leaves Jack feeling remorseful. Can the two find a way through to forever?

This book is a continuation of the book Belong to You.  I loved the first book and couldn't wait to see where Jack and Sydney's story would go, and I was not disappointed.  I love the protective, yet tender, love in this story.  I was wishing for a few loose ends to be tied up but other than that, it was great!  The ending more than I expected too.  Another great book by Vi Keeland!

I give Made for You by Vi Keeland 5 Stars...LOVED IT!

Someone else came over to offer Nadine their congratulations, so Josh said goodbye and went to his locker to get his backpack. He figured he would meet up with Andrea and Rosa in the parking lot. He fumbled with the combination before finally getting the door to swing open. Something glittered on the top shelf and caught his eye. He reached for it, and a small scrap of paper fluttered to the floor.

At first he wasn’t sure what he was holding. It was a pink plastic tiara with some big gaudy plastic jewels. It was the type of thing he had seen in dollar stores for little girls’ birthday parties. It was practically broken in half, and the edges were sharp. Josh pricked his finger on the jagged point, and a few drops of blood welled from the small wound. He put his finger in his mouth as he bent to pick up the paper that had fallen. When he read it, the broken crown suddenly made sense and he wondered how he could have been so naïve. He should have realized from the instant he saw it what it meant.

“Josh decided to play around
Now one of his girls is under the ground.
Another has a big bump on her head.
And by the end of the dance, the queen will be dead.”

Family secrets, bloody breadcrumbs, and deadly obsessions guide the twins through tough decisions and awful mistakes. Desperate for their lives to return to normal, the pair found normal is not written in the stars for either one of them.

This YA adventure follows fraternal twins Kendal and Kennedi on a crazy journey. This book took me so many places, but it flowed so naturally. The plot was so unique, and I was eager for more. I enjoyed it a lot. I can't wait to see what is to come in the next book!
