Author's Head Cold

Time for a new week! Who's ready. This girl is!

Update of last week: Jessie and I topped out with 20k words just last week! We're on the second to last chapter of our book, which means we should be done either by the end of this week or beginning of next week. Both Jess and I have a lot of other things to do this week, so our writing may be deterred a bit. No worries! We're still planning on a release on the first of the year.

Back cover for Jessie and my book, Love During Death.
I've been suffering from a pretty wicked head cold since Thursday and it's been wearing me out! I managed to get some house cleaning done yesterday, but by evening I felt fully drained. As a result, I haven't had much energy to write and I'm finding it very irritating. To top it off, this week is not only the end of October, but the beginning of November, which means hair pulling craziness at my day job.

Upcoming events: Two of the books I've been looking forward to this month were postponed for release. The last update I had heard, they were both being scheduled for release (one still being tentative) on the 31st, which makes all three that I was waiting for due to be out on the same day. I'm gonna be one busy gal! To top it all off, Wednesday is also Halloween, which means trick-o-treating with my 3 year old. I also have to take him in for a flu shot that day, so it'll be interesting to see how it all turns out.

It's bedtime in my house (at least for the little guy) so I'm off for now! I hope everyone has a fantastic week and a wonderful Halloween! Until next weekend!

Rockstar Pumpkin Vomit

Holy cow talk about crazy weekend! Friday night was one of the first nights I've had in a long time where I didn't have my son, and I had the opportunity to go out and be an adult! I know that I'm not going to be able to go out with the big kids for Halloween, so I did my dressing up on Friday and went as a rocker chick. Yep, I looked hot. Apparently, I told everyone I saw how hot I was too. Only slightly embarrassing.

Friday night get-up. Reminder to self: don't wear tie to bar in the future. Too many people think it's a handle for their own pleasure.
On Saturday, my parents and I took my son and niece to a pumpkin patch about 30 miles away from our town (that's close for our area). The little ones had so much fun! It's always a joy to see those two enjoying themselves. Unfortunately, I got eaten alive by tiny black beetle-looking bugs, and still have the red itchy spots to prove it. Taylor (my son) also got sick Saturday night/Sunday morning. I'm not sure if it's a stomach bug or if something else made him sick, but the little fella is such a trooper and did his best to play like a normal three year old the next day.

The outcasts. The pumpkins were set aside from the ones for sale because they were considered unacceptable. I, however, thought they were eye catching.
By Sunday, Tay and I just stayed home. Normally, we go to church with my parents and have lunch with them before naptime, but Tay said his tummy still hurt, so we stayed home and watched movies. He must not have been feeling too horribly ill; he helped me pick up the living room! Bless his little heart.

By Sunday evening, I was so tired, I completely forgot to do my blog post! So, here I am, almost done at work for the day, and I'm FINALLY getting around to it.

On another note, Jessie and I have really made some headway on Love During Death! As of Friday night, we had passed the 30k mark and set a goal for this week to do a minimum of 2k a day (Mon-Fri) to equal a minimum of 10k a week (not including weekend days). So far today, I already wrote over 2k and Jessie hasn't even taken her turn yet! If we are able to keep it up like this, we should be done writing in about 2-3 weeks and ready for editing. We're aiming for a January 1st, 2012 release. I have faith that we'll have it done.

Every Monday, Jessie and I try to have a "Sneaky Peaky" excerpt on one of our fan pages on Facebook, if not on both. For anyone interested in reading them, be sure to check out my page here or Jessie's page here.

Halloween is coming up! Anyone have big plans? Taylor is going as Spiderman (which is no big surprise) so I'm collaborating and going as Mary Jane. I hope to get a picture done so everyone can see how horrible I look *wink wink*. I also have a swag pack up for grabs in the Paranormal Book Club Halloween giveaway (I'm Pack #3). Be sure to check it out if you haven't done so already!

Well, off to another week! I'm excited to see how well Jessie and I do on our goal. I'm stoked to get this book done and out to you all! Stay tuned! We'll keep you as entertained as we possibly can!

Weekend Rambles

This weekend was my free Kindle ebook weekend and it has gone better than I could've ever hoped for! As of right now, the count is at 598, and I'll have the final number posted tomorrow morning.

I didn't do much this weekend. I intended on getting my house completely clean and organized yesterday, and ended up taking a nap and doing nothing worthwhile. Today wasn't anymore productive, but I did do a lot more today. Still, I feel pretty useless this weekend.

On another note, I've postponed progress on Sovereign Plague to work more proficiently on Love During Death with Jessie. We've agreed to make a strong attempt at finishing LDD by the first of the new year. I'm not near as optimistic about that actually happening as she is, but it does paint a pretty picture in my mind! We're close to 20k words, and if we both make the effort this week, we could hit our halfway mark by the weekend! Seeing as how it's been close to two years since the original starting date of LDD, it's time to finish it so we can both move on to other projects.

This month, three books are coming out that I am desperate to get my hands on!

What the Heart Needs by Kelli McCracken
Binding Secrets by Lisa Logue
Impulse by Dannika Dark

If you've not read any of the books from these series', then you have no idea what you're missing out on!

Well, I know this post was fairly lame this week, but it's hard to think clearly when your three year old is watching the animated Incredible Hulk TV series on Netflix and you secretly want to watch it as much as he does! Yep, I'm that kind of nerd. Have a good week!

Rants and Woes

This last week I've been even more tired than my usual level of exhaustion. Being stressed about the audit at my day job really did a number on me. Alas, the audit is finis and I survived! Back to normal life...hopefully.

It's time for a change. I've failed miserably in my attempt to lose weight over the last year and I need to do something to make myself feel better. I think a haircut is in order, but I don't know what style I want to do. Decisions decisions!

I've really been out of my element. I desperately need to get some writing done and it's not going very smoothly. How does one find missing element? I must rediscover self!

It's been seven months. Seven months since I had a date, since I had any semblance of life away from being a parent. I find myself craving a relationship more and more with every passing day. However, I live in a part of the world that has been suffering a man drought for YEARS. It's a college town, but with a combination of immaturity and Hollywood social influence, those referred to as "men" are far from. Being a single parent, I already have one strike against me: I have a child. Strike two is introduced as a body type. I'm overweight and far from Hollywood's idea of beautiful. I'm also quite pale and refuse to fake bake. I guess I still have one strike left, but there always seems to be something. Regardless, I don't let the world tell me what is beautiful. I know that I am in my own right and have to keep telling myself that if it's meant to be, I will someday find someone worth my time.

Well, I feel better. That was a much need rant! Perhaps now I'll have better luck with writing and my muse will like me again! Until next week!
