Holiday Jargon

I ended up skipping a week of blogging to have a "me" day/weekend. I had a "date", the first in 8 months and really enjoyed the day.

So what's new here in Rachel's little world? Well, Jessie and I officially have LDD off to our beta readers. One more month and it'll be published! I'm trying not to get excited yet, but I'm not entirely sure how well that's working. I also broke down and got a new phone...and it's smart! Now I have the work at my fingertips, so if I'm away from my computer or Kindle, it's okay! I love it and am excited to see how it'll help me keep in touch with the world while I'm out enjoying life.

Who had a wonderful Thanksgiving? Mine was nothing spectacular, but relaxing nonetheless. My one goal every year is to enjoy the holidays, even if it means taking a step back from the usual routine of hurry up and wait. It seems like our holiday group gets smaller and smaller each year, but that's because my family keeps growing. My brother and his wife had a baby a little over a year ago, and that eliminated them from the festivities last year. So far, they haven't made it back this way since early July, and I have no idea if they intend to come for Christmas or not. Their latest news: they're expecting again! So, it could definitely be awhile before they become a regular part of the holidays here again.

I'm strongly considering a move in the next year. The town I live in is small. Too small for my tastes, and I never intended on staying here as long as I have. I love my parents to death and I know my son enjoys being this close to them, but I need my space...and my bigger city life. I've decided that if I actually make the move, it won't be far and it'll be to a bigger city with more opportunity and a better college. Next year would be a good time, too, because Taylor will be about ready for school and I'd rather not move after he's already started and made new friends. It's still a bit too early to know for sure, but it's definitely something I'm looking in to.

Coming soon: character interview with Kelli McCracken! I'm pretty stoked about this opportunity. Kelli is one of my favorite authors and has expressed her interest in having a character interview right here on ParaSuperNormalism! I'm excited to see how it all turns out!

What I've been reading: I just read the available 6 books of Natalie Hancock's Cursed In Darkness series. I haven't written any reviews for it, and I'm not sure I can! I wouldn't know what to say, other than it's AMAZING! Book 7, the final book, comes out the 1st of December! Check them out.

Well, I have a little boy that fell asleep in the car on the way home, and has been sleeping on the couch until now. He's crabby and sleepy and I seriously need to get him to bed before all hell breaks loose. Enjoy your week, stay out of trouble, don't do anything I wouldn't do! ;)

Editing Maniac

It's Tuesday, which means I'm late once again! I've been suffering another cold, and my brain hasn't been functioning at full capacity. I did manage to get a solid 11 hours of sleep last night, and I've been feeling pretty good today aside from a light cough and minor congestion.

That being said, I've just finished round one of chapters 6-12. I've yet to implement the changes for chapters 1-5. Yes, it's a bit backwards, but honestly I did the easier half first. When Jessie and I first started writing LDD, we were both really rusty...and it shows. I'm hoping to have all changes done sometime tomorrow so we can begin phase 2 of editing and have everything done by no later than the 26th of November so we can pass off to our beta readers. Time is passing faster than I can keep up with!

This last weekend, Jessie was here for a visit. We had a great time, despite the fact that I was fairly miserable. I had taken some Mucinex on Saturday and felt like I was on speed most of the day. Darn drug hypersensitivity. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure Jessie found it highly entertaining. We always laugh a lot together.

I've gotten Jessie started on the Mageri series by Dannika Dark and she constantly texts me parts that she loves. It does my heart good to know that a close friend adores a book that I, myself, so thoroughly enjoyed. Dannika is currently my all-time favorite author, and I'm constantly pushing her works on others as best I can. She's an Indie just like me, and I love being able to promote for my fellow writers.

Since Jessie and I are so close to finishing LDD, I wanted to have another sneak peek, but I honestly can't think of anything I want to share that I haven't already shared on my Facebook Fan Page. So, instead I thought I'd share some of the chapter names. They're not in any certain order and I've only provided a few:

Boyfriend Sexypants
Death: The Dirty Player

These are just some of my favorites. At one point, we had titled chapter one What's That Smell? but it got nixed.

I hope everyone has an awesome rest of the week. I'll try my best to do better at getting my posts done on time (usually Sunday evenings). Don't forget to add Love During Death to your TBR list on Goodreads!

Check out these fabulous Indie authors:

Weekly News: Writerdom

It's Monday. A day after my usual blog day. I'm a slacker, I know. Actually, Jessie and I made such incredible progress on Love During Death that I decided to take a step back, away from the craziness that is writing. Aside from the very ending of LDD, Jessie pretty much finished writing last night. All that really needs to be done is editing and then on to beta readers before the big release day! Pretty exciting! It's been a long journey and I'm glad we're almost done.

This last week, I finally got my hands on Impulse by Dannika Dark and What the Heart Needs by Kelli McCracken. LOVE those ladies! They're not only fantastic authors, but wonderful women. What a journey this has become, getting to know other writers on a more personal basis. Next up: Binding Secrets by my girl, Lisa Logue. It should be out tomorrow and I've seriously been harassing her about getting it done so I can read it. This world of fiction we're all a part of is definitely something to crave!

For the month of November, the goal is to finish editing LDD by no later than the last week of the month. We'd like to have our betas ready to read by then so that we can have the last week of December to finalize our edits and get the formatting done as well. It needs to be submitted for publication (Kindle version) the day before to ensure its availability on the 1st of January. Happy New Year to us!

As much as I enjoy Christmas, this is a really crummy time of year. My finances hurt the most, especially since my son is still so young and I want him to have everything he's ever wanted. What mother wants anything less for their child(ren)? Regardless, it's still my favorite time of year...partially because tax season is slow close! ;)

By the end of the week, Jessie will be here for another visit and some girl time. It's been too long since she and I had the chance to go out and be us again, so I'm hoping to be able to line up a sitter for one night this weekend. My mom will be out of town visiting my brother, so I doubt my dad would be up for it. *sigh* Single parenthood.

Just a heads up: Love During Death is now on Goodreads. If you're a Goodreads member, go add it to your TBR list! It's a good way to be reminded that it's coming out soon. Don't forget to keep up to date on all the details on my fan page on Facebook, or on Twitter. Have a good week, stay out of trouble, love like there is no tomorrow.
